Using Mailchimp to browse your image chart in email: Get started!

Posted on
September 4, 2020

Mailchimp is one of the most popular marketing automation tool used for running email campaigns. It empowers users to manage their leads and clients in a smooth and effective manner. This tool emphasizes the use of healthy contact management strategies, robust data analysis, and smartly-designed campaigns. In addition, Mailchimp allows you to seamlessly embed chart images in your emails

Image chart, Chart image , what is it?

Google Charts API ‘s web service developed the chart image API for creating graphics charts.  They are tailored for professional and marketing use. The service involves a wide range of chart information and formatting

Process of sending charts in email via Mailchimp

Before you start , here are the basic steps for sending a chart image in email :

  • Understand how Mailchimp works
  • Identify the type of chart that addresses your needs
  • Embed your chart

Understand how Mailchimp works

First, you need to sign in to Mailchimp. Already have an account? Then login. Do not have an account yet? It is time to register one. Fortunately, over time, signing up with Mailchimp has been made a lot easier to attract users. Here is a basic overview that you will need to know once you choose to interact with this marketing tool:

  • Create an account
  • Create an audience

Understand that these steps are purposely aimed at you to become easily familiar with the use of this web based software. For creating an account, you need to enter your name and email address. Next, click the link given to you for activating your account

Once your Mailchimp account is created, you will benefit from us managing and organizing your audience (also known as contacts). We have all the suitable tools required for this task, designed specifically for you to have a particular audience, or more as per your needs.

And with that, you have subscribed as a Mailchimp user and can start inserting and embedding anything you like.

Identify your chart

Paragraphe:   In Mailchimp, you can choose from four types of charts designed and inspired for a more mature editorial style:

  • Line charts: highlighting actual trends in data, non curved lines are highly recommended. And they should be 2pts in weights and straight
  • Bar Charts: we recommend not to round the corners and not space them more than 50 percent of the width of the bar.
  • Scatter plot charts: we recommend that the points do not exceed 8px by 8px and Color combos determine the points color.
  • Meter Charts: Data in these charts must always reach 100% in total. For more categories, you can go for the categorical color combos. Categories should be under six. In case there are more than six categories, think of shortening data for the top four and then insert the smaller data in another category

Embed your chart

In most cases, it is tricky to send a chart directly. Instead, we recommend converting it to an image. Post-conversion, it will be convenient for you to insert and upload charts in your email.

Here’s a quick over of what you need to do:

  • Save the chart as a picture
  • Open your Mailchimp account
  • Insert or attach the image file

Here is how you can convert your chart into image:

  • Select the chart you want to save as a picture
  • Click Ctrl+C on keyboard
  • Go to the application or browser where you would like to send it, then click on Paste or Ctrl+v
  • Press the cursor on where you want to place your chart, select Ctrl+v again on keyboard

Make sure to use the right file format: either jpg, gif, bmp or png according to your file’s weight

Another solution is to create a page that supports the chart, take a screenshot of that page and get the image back.

Embedding charts on email might require different process as there are different categories of charts. For instance, if you use Mailchimp, you will mainly deal with four different charts. Consequently, each platform requires a separate solution. However, in terms of business communication, Mailchimp is still highly recommended due to its user-friendliness and practical use and organization. Moreover, it has all the tips you need to meet a wide range of purposes.
