- Zapier is an automation tool that lets you connect different applications together to automate workflows.
- Image Charts is an online service that lets you generate charts and diagrams using a simple URL.
The aim of this brief tutorial? Make the Zapier connection process intuitive and swift. Ready to bridge the best of both worlds? Let’s create charts in Zapier !
1. Subscribe to Image-Charts
First, go to our pricing page if you do not have a subscription already. Take the time to compare the different options and choose the one that suits you best! Once you've made your choice, subscribe and use your favorite secure payment method to confirm your subscription to Image Charts. Please note that you won’t be able to use Image-Charts Zapier application if you don’t subscribe first.
2. My Credentials
Following your subscription, an e-mail containing your login details should arrive in your inbox. In the case you didn’t receive any, double check your SPAM!
3. Create a Zap on Zapier
Once you have received your login details, go to Zapier. If you're already a member of the Zapier community, log in. If not, register in a few seconds using your e-mail address.
Once logged in, click on "Create Zap" and start creating a new Zap. Creating a Zap is like creating automated shortcuts for your apps and services.
4. Understand 'Triggers' and 'Actions' when creating a Zap
When you create a "Zap", two main components come into play: the "trigger" and the "action".
- A “trigger” is a specific event that initiates an automated workflow, called a "Zap". When you activate this trigger, it initiates one or more actions in other apps.
- When you activate the trigger, the action then occurs automatically in response.
In other words, the "trigger" indicates Zapier WHEN to start, and the "action" indicates Zapier WHAT to do.
5. An example: Google Sheet and Image-Charts
What better way to understand how to get charts in Zapier than with an example?
We'll take "Google Sheets" as an example. Select the appropriate trigger event, for instance, "New Spreadsheet Row". Now, connect to your Google Sheets account and select the spreadsheet and the sheet that contains the data. For the "Action" step, search for and select "Image-Charts". This is where you'll need to log in. Now, you can click on "Sign in".
6. Creation of graphics in your Zap
All the information is in the e-mail you received previously. Your "Account_id" is your "Username" and your "Secret_id (case-sensitive)" is your "Password".
Once logged in, choose the type of chart you want (create a line chart, create a bubble chart...). Enter the final parameters required to create your chart (dataset, chart size...). Now all you have to do is activate your Zap!
Voilà, you've successfully connected Zapier and Image Charts together ! So, whether it's a simple event or a more advanced usage, you'll get a visual representation of your data in no time ;)
