Posted on
September 9, 2020

In today's world of significant advancement, no business or organization can achieve success by working in silos. You need to collaborate with several clients and teams every single day in order to get work done. This collaboration has been made easier with the invention of applications like Slack, Zapier and Teams.

In this blog, we will learn about these platforms and what you can achieve by using them in business settings. Furthermore, we will also learn how to send pie charts using Zapier, Slack or Teams.

Zapier – The Easiest Way to Automate Your Work

Zapier is a global company founded in 2011 in Missouri that provides integration software to its customers. Using Zapier, you can integrate web applications that you use. Through its online automation tool, Zapier can connect the apps and services that you use.

Suppose you are a salesperson that wants your meeting calendar automatically updated when new clients request a meeting on your company's database. Using Zapier, you will be able to connect the meeting calendar application with the database. This integration will save you a lot of time and enable you to share information more readily with your clients.

Slack – Where Work Happens

Developed by Slack Technologies in 2013, Slack is a business communication tool that offers a single platform for all your clients or employees. Using Slack, you can work more efficiently with everyone on your team. It helps employees, clients, vendors, suppliers and customers stay in the loop about a business's or an organization's activities.

Slack offers:

  • Voice and video calls to connect easily
  • Chat rooms to discuss and hole virtual meetings
  • Messaging for instant communication
  • Channels to keep everything in one place
  • Slack Connect for collaboration
  • Workflow Builder to automate daily tasks

Microsoft Teams – Group Chat, Team Chat and Collaboration

Much like Slack, Microsoft Teams is a communication and collaboration platform that enables audio and video meetings and workplace chat options. It also allows file storage and application integration like Zapier. Microsoft Corporation developed it in 2017. Microsoft Teams has become extremely popular during COVID-19, where people all around the world are working from home and attending virtual classes.

How They Work

Now that we have seen what all of these platforms have to offer, we must focus our attention on how they work. All 3 tools can be categorized as useful communication and integration tools that enable deep collaboration between two or more parties. Let’s see how you can provide the best user experience using Zapier, Slack or Teams.

Zapier – Slack Integration

Using Zapier’s Slack integration, you can simplify the methods of communication for your teams. Zapier allows you to connect Slack with over 2,000 other applications like Google Sheets, Trello, Twitter and Facebook Lead Ads, to name a few. You can connect your work across multiple platforms and increase productivity levels significantly. Here are some ways in which you can benefit from Zapier – Slack integration:

  • Keep teams updated whenever an action happens on another application. For example, when a customer fills out a form on Google Forms.
  • Save Slack messages with specific keywords in Google Docs or Sheets to help you in your work later.
  • Add Slack messages to project management applications like Trello to manage tasks.

Slack – Teams Integration

The main advantage that Slack – Teams integration offers is that it enables an existing team in Slack to launch a call on Microsoft Teams using the Slack app. You can also set Microsoft Teams as the default calling provider on Slack, so whenever a team member calls, it will automatically connect the call using Microsoft Teams. All you have to do is add the Microsoft Teams plug-in to Slack, and you are good to go.

Zapier – Teams Integration

Zapier allows you to connect Microsoft Teams with 2,000 plus applications, just like Slack. By doing this, it enables more active communication. Here are some ways in which you can use the Zapier – Teams integration

  • Connect Teams to Facebook Lead Ads and get automatic messages for new leads
  • Connect Teamleader and Teams to get instant alerts when invoices are paid on Teamleader
  • Connect Teams and Eventbrite and get automatic updates when people register for your events

How to Send Pie Charts Using Zapier, Slack or Teams

Now that we have understood how we can benefit from the integration of these 3 powerful tools, let’s have a look at how to send pie charts using Zapier, Slack or Teams.

Step # 1: Create a Pie Chart

Using software like Image-Charts, create a pie chart configuration in the form of a URL string. If you need more information regarding this, please refer to our guide on creating image charts by clicking here.

Step # 2: Connect Chart Tool with Communication Platform

Suppose you created a pie chart on Image-Charts and want to send it to your team on Slack. Your task is to connect Image-Charts and Slack now using Zapier, the ultimate integration tool.

Step # 3: Set Triggers and Actions Required

Now that you have connected your applications, you need to set triggers and actions. What this means is that you need to choose what action must take place on Slack every time a specific action happens on Image-Charts.

In the case of pie charts, my trigger can be "Client Quota Reached", and action can be "Send Information to Team." Now every time I reach my client quota for a month, a pie chart with all statistical data about my performance will automatically be sent to my team! So convenient and time-saving, isn’t it?

In the same way, you can use Zapier to connect your chart tool to any communication or project/task management platform, including Microsoft Teams.

Conclusion

Collaboration is at the heart of every successful organization in the world, and new tools are emerging every day that aim to make our lives easier. We hope our tutorial helped you learn how to send pie charts using Zapier, Slack or Teams.
